Genre: Pop
Release Date: March 10, 2014
Top Tracks: Compliment Your Soul, In / Out
Similar Artists: Bleachers, Glass Animals

I occasionally will find myself dancing around in a field of sunflowers and whenever I find myself in this rather enjoyable circumstance, it's always this album that's playing in my ears. Light, airy and cheerful with happy synths and quick snares throughout, Dan Croll has created a perfectly enjoyable body of work. If you can listen to ""Compliment Your Soul"" and don't have a strong urge to sing the course to your significant other, well then you need a Snickers. If you're looking for an album to listen to today, we're hoping this is some new music that you haven't heard before.

Bonus Content: I don't know Dan, but if I was invited to his 12th birthday party I'd be willing to bet all he asked for was a new keyboard or guitar. He's one of those artists that has completely devoted himself to the craft of making the best music possible. He studied it in college and has been diligently practicing his craft ever since. Apparently he also used to be quite the rugby player too?? How very British. Read an interview with Dan here.

Enjoy Every Sandwich - The Songs of Warren Zevon

Genre: Rock
Release Date: October 19, 2004
Top Tracks: Poor Poor Pitiful Me, Keep Me In Your Heart
Similar Artists: Bruce Springsteen, The Band

It's not often that you're going to get Adam Sandler, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen on an album together and it not be a skit on SNL, but in 2004, the legacy of Warren Zevon managed to do just that. Enjoy Every Sandwich is a tribute to Warren Zevon, one of America's finest (and most depressing) songwriters. The life and legacy of Zevon are well worth your time to read up on… we'll briefly summarize the end. In 2002 Zevon was diagnosed with mesothelioma. This was 2 years after releasing ""Life'll Kill You"" which is an album lamenting about death and dying. In late 2002, Warren Zevon appeared on David Letterman's late night show as the sole guest and performed his most recent album. On the show Warren discussed life and death and told viewers to ""enjoy every sandwich."" One year later, Warren Zevon passed away. A year after that, his friends and family collaborated to perform ""Enjoy Every Sandwich - The Songs of Warren Zevon"". If you're looking for new albums to listen to, this is a unique one.

Bonus content: When you listen to the second track on the album and hear the intro melody, what's the first song you think of? If you think Kid Rock's ""All Summer Long"", please go directly to jail; do not pass go; do not collect $200. That's right, the Kid Rock song is a mashup of two 70s hits, Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon and Sweet Home Alabama. The two 70s rock tracks do have eerily similar intro riffs. Read more about the inspiration behind Werewolves of London here.

NZCA LINES

Genre: Pop-rock
Release Date: July 10, 2020
Top Tracks: Opening Night, Real Good Time, Prisoner of Love
Similar Artists: Prince, MGMT

Michael Lovett's project NZCA LINES is a modern result of the love for 90s RnB, synthesizers, vocal harmonies, and science fiction. We got some serious Prince vibes listening to this album and a touch of funk that can only lead to the invention of new dance moves and the most colorful sport coats. If you're looking for a new album with 80's and 90's influence, try listening to this one today.

Bonus Content: The name NZCA LINES was influenced by the Nazca Lines in Peru. These 'lines' are giant designs and motifs etched into the ground about 250 miles south of Lima, Peru by ancient Nazca culture. A creative inspiration for his musical persona is only right for this unique artist. Learn more about NZCA LINES from one of their interviews.

Lovetap!

Smallpools

Genre: Pop
Release Date: March 24, 2015
Top Tracks: Dreaming, Killer Whales, Street Fight
Similar Artists: Misterwives, Coast Modern

Plain and simple: this album is just fun. Smallpools has got that classic indie-pop-rock band sound and puts it on full display in Lovetap! With no shortage of poppy-synths and catchy hooks, it's basically impossible not to crack a smile while listening through. Its upbeat, bubbly, and while it approaches more solemn topics like lost love and hopelessness, it ultimately serves to inspire. Let's also take a moment to appreciate the album art here: just a "lovetap" between siblings??! As if that's even possible!

Bonus Content: Check out this awesome interview from Atwood Magazine which highlights the juxtaposition they pose between their lyrics and sound!

Music For Airports

Brian Eno

Genre: Indie-Alternative
Release Date:  March 1, 1978
Top Tracks: The whole album is 4 compositions. And for its full experience must be listened to in its entirety.
Similar Artists: David Byrne, Aphex Twin

Music for Airports is intended to be an installation. It really was meant to be played and listened to in an airport. What it turns out to be really good at as well, is working to. An ambient sound meant to be ambiently listened to. My productivity shoots up when I intentionally listed to music meant to not be intentionally performed or listened to, but rather experienced.
