I quit my job 10 years ago...and this site DID get penalized!

I quit my job 10 years ago and my prediction about a site getting penalized happened way faster than I expected.

Keep reading for all the details on both.

So, yesterday marked the 10 year anniversary of me leaving the corporate world! I've been making a living with my online businesses ever since March 11th, 2011.

The decision at the time to walk into my bosses office was difficult and nerve wracking.

How do you succinctly explain that you want to quit your job and a company you've worked at for 5 years in order to grow your portfolio of niche sites?

It was difficult, but it was one of the best decisions of my life.

My portfolio of small niche sites at the time was making over $10,000 a month...which surpassed my day job income, so it was time to make the leap into full-time entrepreneurship.

I've expanded my business into developing software tools (Long Tail Pro and Link Whisper), and other online businesses outside of just niche sites. (Although I still maintain a portfolio of niche sites as well).

When I first got started online, I always wondered, "Can people REALLY make a full-time living online?"

Now, after 10 years, I can resoundingly say YES!

The opportunity really is there. Nothing is easy in life, but plenty of us are making a great living with our online businesses...and it's all very real.

I look forward to another decade working for myself and enjoying all the freedoms that brings.

This Site is Tanking...

On Feb. 19th, I sent out an email titled, "🤦🏽‍♂️ This site will get penalized by Google"

I predicted that Agern Restaurant would get penalized some time in he next 12 months.

Turns out it happened way sooner than I expected.

About a week ago, this website started tanking in Google. Check out this screenshot from Ahrefs:

You can see that starting about a week ago the organic traffic started tanking. I guarantee you that trend is going to continue and this graph is going to look MUCH more severe in another week or two.

Thanks to the person that pointed this out to me!

However, this story gets even "shadier".

The owner just listed this site on Flippa to sell it.

I wonder why?! :)

Looks like the seller is trying to dump it before the traffic and earnings tank even more.

I don't know if the site will sell, but I really hope if there is a buyer that they know before they buy that this site is on a massive decline that started recently.

The Flippa listing says nothing about the recent traffic decline and the fact that it's getting hit by Google really hard right now.

Unfortunately, Flippa doesn't do that sort of thing.

This is a big reason why my partners and I created MotionInvest.com. We go through and do intense due diligence on every listing.

And if a site is on a big decline, we don't list the site. In fact, we reject many more sites than we actually list.

Overall, I had no idea this website that I called out a few weeks ago would get penalized so quickly...I just knew it was due for a penalty at some point.
