Rise reviews well, and could Switch Pro use NVIDIA tech for 4k?
Farming and carvin. Web version | Unsubscribe Hi, issue #225 of Switch Weekly here, with the week in Nintendo. Hope you're well. Such a great response to last week's State of Switch survey results — thank you so much to all of you who read, shared, and commented. If you missed it, you can read my report here. 😊 Busy week, as Monster Hunter Rise landed and the reviews are very postive, this is going to be a huge hit. I've linked a review or two below. The rumour mill had yet another Switch Pro tidbit to chew on, this time touching upon some Nvidia image tech that the next Switch may use — more on that below. Anyway, on the eShop next week there are just under 25 games hitting the store. The full list is below as usual, oh and I've started putting little roundups on Tik Tok too if that's your thing. It's a big issue so I'll stop there — hope you have a good week. 🎮 Currently Playing — Baba Is You REVIEW ‘Monster Hunter Rise’ is the most ambitious Nintendo Switch game in a long time — "an original, made-for-Switch Capcom title that shatters expectations [...] This is probably the best “Monster Hunter” game to date, and an easy, early contender for 2021′s best game". Here's another review from The Sixth Axis. Gene Park // Launcher (The Washington Post) ▶ Tips and tricks for New Monster Hunter Rise players — A beginners guide for getting started with Capcom's latest. Dreamland Gem // YouTube ▶ Monster Hunter Rise vs World vs Generations Ultimate: Graphics & Performance Showdown Nintendo World Report // YouTube Nintendo's upgraded Switch may use NVIDIA DLSS for 4K gaming — A report earlier this week (via Bloomberg) suggested that Nintendo's next machine will use this 'Deep Learning Super Sampling' tech. From what I understand it uses AI to render higher detail graphics at a lower cost to the actual hardware. This would be a clear win for Nintendo's general design philosophy, and sounds like a performance boon too. There’s increasingly some sort of trade-off now with Switch releases, and it’s more apparent then ever now we have the PS5 and new Xbox — I imagine this may go some way to kinda close that gap. S. Dent // Engadget How a Switch Pro leak may point to Nvidia’s megaton mobile-gaming plans Sam Machkovech // Ars Technica Should you buy Harvest Moon: One World, or Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town? — Kate played both and here she runs through the key differences between the two farming sims. Kate Gray // Nintendo Life ICYMI The State of Switch 2021 survey results — In case you missed this last week, here's the write-up of the results from this year's State Of Switch survey, of which 11,500 Nintendo enthusiasts took part.. Chris Brandrick // Switch Weekly REVIEW Balan Wonderworld — Never a good sign when you can't find many early reviews of a game from a big publisher.... This is a review of the Xbox Series version, but should still tell you what you need to know: Yuji Naka's latest is dated and most will find it "far too antiquated", falling "far short of expectations". Chris Scullion // VGC REVIEW Overcooked: All You Can Eat— "an absolute must-buy for anybody looking for a fantastic party game". Mitch Vogel // Nintendo Life REVIEW Rip Them Off — This minimalistic puzzler "fails to come together in its puzzle gameplay" making it "hard to recommend". Steven Green // Nintendo World Report REVIEW Get-A-Grip Chip — "A cute & enjoyable platformer starring a hook-slinging robot". Jordan Rudek // Nintendo World Report REVIEW Littlewood — "will charm the pants off you with its delightful world and characters, but mechanically feels like the lite version of more established management sims out there".
