Searches for “UX Writing” are up 170% over the last two years.

UX writing (sometimes called “microcopy”) is copy specifically written for software, like button text, menu labels and error messages.

This field previously fell under the umbrella term of “UX design”, but has been broken out into its own field in recent years.

In fact, Booking.com currently has 50+ dedicated UX writers on staff.

What's next:
UX writing is part of the hyperniche role meta trend.

We’re seeing a rapid rise in demand for hyperniche roles (positions focused on executing one very specific task).

Besides UX writing, other examples of hyperniche roles include sleep coach, TikTok editor, and Squarespace designer.

Topic #2

Facial Roller

Facial rollers are rounded jade stones used to reduce puffiness around the eyes.

In fact, many “jade roller obsessives” state that these handheld devices have helped them find relief for a host of health problems, from rosacea to headaches.

They also look interesting. Which helps them stand out on visual platforms, like YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram (the jaderoller hashtag has 169K results on IG).

What's next:
Facial rollers are part of the at-home spa product meta trend.

Even though spas are rapidly opening up post-COVID, many people continue to supplement or replace their spa treatments with at-home versions.

Other examples of this meta trend include dermaplaning, red light therapy, and massage guns.

Topic #3

Frontend Mentor

Frontend Mentor is a project-based training site for front-end developers.

Beginner-to-intermediate developers receive a design file. They code it up. And have their finished project reviewed by the community.

Launched as a side project in 2018, this London-based startup is still in the very early stages.

According to Frontend Mentor’s founder, the service recently hit 10,000 registered users and $4.5K MRR.

What's next:
Frontend Mentor is part of the “For Developers, By Developers” meta trend.

It’s estimated that there will be 27.7M developers working full time by 2027 (up from only 23 million today).

Which is why there’s an increasing number of tools specifically designed for pro web developers.

Other examples of this meta trend include Flutter, Replit, Netlify, and CodePen.

Topic #4

Vegan Sneakers

Searches for “vegan sneakers” have nearly doubled over the last five years.

Vegan sneakers are just what they sound like: sneakers that are made without animal-based materials, like leather and wool.

And there are a growing number of DTC vegan sneaker brands hitting the market, like Thousand Fell, Ahisma and Tropicfeel.

What's next:
Vegan sneakers are capitalizing on the “veganification” meta trend.

7.3 million Americans consider themselves vegan or vegetarian. Which is leading to surging demand for all-vegan products.

Beyond shoes, other examples of popular vegan products include mushroom jerky, oat milk, Almond Cow, vegan collagen and vegan vitamins.
