CXL - The underrated competitive advantage
I have 6 updates for you this week. 1. On my mind “Speed is an under-rated competitive advantage. The fast eat the slow.
2 key things to do to speed up.
1) Reduce waste, validate quickly
Clubhouse got a $1B valuation, but doesn't have an Android app or a proper website.
Dave Gerhardt didn't hire developers and spend months building a job board. He rolled it out and is generating revenue with a GDocs based job board.
At Wynter we're validating new product ideas all through no-code. Before we pivoted to B2B panels, we offered it via a Typeform survey. We're soon rolling out customer research surveys and video walkthroughs, both products validated without a single line of code written. That's speed.
2) Decide quickly
Decision-making is progress. Speed is a competitive advantage. We can move much faster when we decide faster.
Instead of having a ton of meetings, deliberation, and contemplation, just do it.
Bezos introduced this decision/speed matrix, and I like it a lot. Basically pretty much always decide fast, unless the result is irreversible with major consequences.
Most decisions are reversible.
If the decision was suboptimal, you can tweak it later. Gather data, optimize.
Moving fast compounds. Small speed optimizations piling on top of each other, and it adds up. It's cumulative.”

4. Coaching with Louis Grenier On April 7, Louis Grenier will coach a select few CXL community members and help them stand out from the sea of competition. More info coming soon on how you can enter to sit in the hot seat. Stay tuned. 5. 54% of businesses don't consider customer data or insights in decision making How do you stack up against other businesses that are running experimentation programs? Find out in Speero's 2021 Experimentation Benchmark Report. You'll also get a list of must-have experimentation practices based on the research, so you can get ahead of your competitors.
6. When should you use custom vs. plug and play integrations? Speero CTO, Silver Ringvee, and Kameleoon’s Chief Product Officer, Frederic De Todaro discuss when your experimentation program can get away with using off-the-shelf integrations to get the data you need, vs. when you need to bite the bullet and build custom integrations.
