What is the average cost to buy a link directly from a website?

$50, $200, $500?

Back in 2018, Ahrefs ran a study to find out. They reached out to 250 blogs asking if they sell links, and if so, for how much?

54 site owners responded that they did sell links, and they discovered the average price of buying a link was $361.44.

That’s pretty expensive if you ask me! And I don’t imagine that things have got much cheaper in 2021.

They also ran a separate test to find out how much it would cost to have guest posts published.

Ahrefs emailed another 180 blogs and learned that 24 respondents charged a fee. Across the 24 sites, the average cost of publishing a guest post was $77.80.

That’s a lot better than the previous figure for inserting a link, but you’ve still got to pay for content creation or spend the time doing it yourself.

Either way, the price of backlinks can really start to add up, both in time and money.

To be clear, I don't think you should be out paying for links; instead you should try to find sites that are willing to let you do a guest post or otherwise link to your content.

If you think backlinks are a bit pricey but you don’t have time to hunt out the best opportunities, there are plenty of agencies that can help in your link building efforts.

​I recently published a post here about ‘reselling on Amazon.’

People are making money by going around their local big box stores, buying up discounted items, and then reselling them for a lot more on Amazon.

There are a few specific tools we share in the post that can make the job easier too.

For example, one tool will help you to know what to look for when you go to a store. It will tell you what products are in demand but have low competition on Amazon.

We’ve also embedded a couple of YouTube videos with examples of people successfully reselling on Amazon. One man is making millions per year and has a entire operation set up, while another says reselling on Amazon ‘feels like stealing.’

At the very least, it’s interesting and encouraging to see another way people are still making money online in 2021.
