Growing Twitter by 45k in 10 Months = $12k (before launch)

There was an interesting AMA here on Indie Hackers this week.

As you can see from the title of the post, Blake Emal quickly grew his Twitter following and was able to make $12K on his app pre-launch. (And the company he now works for and helps grow significantly more, in part due to his twitter efforts).

The comment/AMA section is full of tactics on how he did it.

Here are three of his tips for those just starting out on Twitter:

  1. Spend 30 minutes per day leaving thoughtful comments on related accounts (preferably accounts just barely above you in follower count)
  2. Tweet 10 times per day to start learning what topics and formats seem to work better. Double down on those, scrap the rest for now.
  3. DM 5 new people every day. Don't ask for anything, just start a conversation and see what kind of content you can create for them.

Obviously doing what Blake has done takes a bit of work, but if (or when?) it pays off, it pays off!

He does state in one of the threads that Twitter became one of his priorities - it wasn’t just something he did.

It took a decent amount of time and energy, but it’s paid off for him. You can follow Blake yourself on Twitter here or search @heyblake.

His story reminded me a bit of Keval Shah who we featured on the blog a couple of weeks ago. Keval used Twitter to build and grow his e-commerce SEO agency.

If you missed that interview it’s one that’s definitely worth checking out as well. You can find it here!

Niche Sites for Sale!

More sites have been listed this week over at Motion Invest, with a total of 14 available here right now.

I mentioned the Ski niche site pictured above a number of weeks ago in an email. At that time it was listed for $40K+ at a 37x multiple.

Because this is listed as a Dutch Auction, the price has dropped every 2 or 3 days, and it is now priced at $32,970. That’s only a 30x multiple.

It’s an interesting site because it doesn’t look like any link building has ever been done on it before. It’s DA0.6 or DR0.7. In spite of this, it’s receiving a decent amount of traffic and making a good income.

What do you think would happen if you built 10+ good links to the site? Would it really start to take off?

Head on over to the Motion Invest listings page now to evaluate this opportunity and many others.

7 Internal Linking Mistakes To Avoid

I’ve just had a guest post go live on the Word Agents blog here.

We usually talk about the things we should do with internal linking, but in this article, I’m sharing 7 things NOT to do.

One of the 7 internal linking mistakes I cover is when people don’t build internal links from posts because it doesn't have any external links pointing to them.

I’ve heard from people who do or think this!

It’s totally not true, there’s always some value in linking out from any post on your site to another. Just because there are no external links to pass on link juice, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t link out.

Find out more about this ‘mistake to avoid’ and check out the other 6 in the post here.

Thanks again,

PS - If you want to make your internal linking much faster and easier, you should check out my internal link building plugin, Link Whisper, right here.
