Sticky Notes - I'm no Hemingway.

The party must go on.

I have so much to tell you and so little time. So, let's not waste much of the latter and just jump right in. 

Today, we're going to begin by exploring Ernest Hemingway and the writing style that made his work so widely read. 

From there, we'll cover a highlight-reel from one of my favorite writers of all time... Charles Bukowski. 

And, finally, we will close out the conversation with copywriting... taking a close look at a few delicious examples of word-smithery that will leave you watering at the mouth like a Basset Hound wrapped from head to toe in raw uncured bacon.

Ernest Hemingway was a complicated (and some would argue deeply conflicted) individual, as most writers often are.

He was a creative genius with a heavy drinking problem. Legend has it that he once stole a urinal from his favorite bar because he had "pissed away" so much of his money at the place.

Anyway, for as complicated as this American writer was, his writing style has been revered by novelists, poets, bookworms and marketers for its distinct flair.

It's punchy yet natural. It's easily understood yet full of depth. It's Hemingway. 

I've learned as much about writing clear, crisp and compelling copy reading Hemingway as I have reading some of the greatest copywriting books out there, and that's saying something.

In this article, I dissect five elements that make Hemingway's writing style so damn good and share how you can immediately start implementing them in your own writing and marketing.

But, more than this, copywriting can be an art form that sparks movements (both good and bad movements) like a stun gun in a cattle ranch.

The bottom line is that it's worth studying, no matter who you are nor what you do... which begins with developing good taste.
