Modular monoliths and microservices: architectural patterns for rapid, reliable, frequent and sustainable development
In October 2021, I gave a keynote at iSAQB software architecture gathering 2021.
I use the metaphors of dark energy and dark matter to compare and contrast three architectural patterns: traditional monolith, modular monolith and microservices.

Leftover training budget? Big discounts for microservices data patterns bootcamp
If you have left over training budget, now is a good time to enroll your team in my distributed data patterns bootcamp.

It covers the key distributed data management patterns including Saga, API Composition, and CQRS.

The bootcamp consists of video lectures, quizzes and code walk-throughs/labs. It's self-paced and you can start at any time. There is a weekly ask-me-anything video conference repeated in multiple timezones.

Use the coupon BNCDVUNB to sign up for $295 ($100 discount). There are bigger discounts for buying multiple seats: $236/seat for 10 or more, $206/seat for 20 or more. Bulk purchases come with the option of private, paid Q&A sessions. Valid until November 16th, 2021.

The Microservices Assessment Platform now supports user-defined properties
If you have developed a microservices-based application then take a look at the Microservices Assessment Platform,

It enables you to assess your microservice architecture and identify improvements.
We just added support for user-defined properties.

It's free for individual use and pricing starts at $200/year for teams.
Hands on Microservices architecture and design workshop for teams
The remote version of my 3 day hands-on workshop for teams is available. Through a combination of Zoom-based and video lectures, Zoom discussions, architecture exercises, and code labs, I walk you through using the microservice architecture to develop your applications.

You’ll learn how to deal with some of the key obstacles you’ll face including distributed data management and discover strategies for refactoring a monolith to a microservice architecture.
