Ford solves electric vehicles' biggest problem, the best tablets, Pixel 6 bad news, OnePlus 10 leak, and more

We spend a lot of time thinking about electric vehicles here at Review Geek. EVs seem like the future after all, and they have brought about changes to even traditional cars like over-the-air updates. When it comes to EV, one of the most significant advantages seems to be getting to skip the gas station. Just plug in overnight, and you have a “full tank” in the morning—every morning.

But sooner or later, you’ll need to travel further than an “overnight” charge will manage.  And when that happens, you have to stop and charge somewhere, and that’s where the EV promise falls apart. However, Ford and Purdue University may have solved the biggest problems with EVs. Check out the top story for all the details.

Other Highlights:

  • The Pixel 6 news keeps getting worse. Now it turns out draining your battery might break your fingerprint reader? Wooooof.
  • Well, well, well, this OnePlus 10 leaked render sure suggests the company is taking, shall we say, inspiration from another company on camera bump designs.
  • YouTube plans to hide the number of dislikes videos have in an attempt to … do something? It’s supposed to help creators, but it also seems detrimental.
  • Are you looking to buy a Tablet for friends or family this Christmas? We gathered the best tablets you can buy, whether it’s for children or grandparents.
  • …and more!

YouTube Hides Dislike Counts, Forcing You to Read the Comments

Starting today, YouTube will hide the public dislike counter on all videos. You can still dislike videos, but you can’t open a product review or tutorial and check the dislikes to see if it’s worth watching. The YouTube brass say this change will “protect our creators from harassment,” which is a disappointing explanation, as viewers are now forced to read comments if they want to quickly gauge a video’s quality. Forget Widgets, Google Is Testing a Weird New Search Shortcut for Android

There are several ways to bring up Google Search on your Android phone. You can pin a Search widget to your home screen, for example, or press the dedicated Google Assistant button on your phone to ask a quick question. But soon, Google will introduce a new way to Search on Android—a floating bubble that provides easy access to Search and Assistant. Read More »

Draining Your Pixel 6 Battery Might Break Its Fingerprint Reader

By now, you’ve probably heard that Pixel 6 owners are having trouble with their fingerprint readers. Some people have unresponsive sensors, others have non-working sensors, and so on. Google recently blamed these issues on “enhanced security algorithms” and user error, but a new bug shows that crappy software may be behind some Pixel 6 owners’ fingerprint-scanning woes.
