Microsoft's return to villainous ways, the best PC accessories, new Disney+ shows, LOTR keyboard, and more

In the past decade or so, Microsoft seems to have really changed on a cultural level. It went from being the company that frequently demonstrated “embrace, extend, and extinguish” as a philosophy to an organization that genuinely seemed to support user choice and other platforms. Office on iPad, Linux inside Windows, and a Chromium-powered Microsoft browser all seemed unthinkable but are now a reality.

But alas, it seems that Microsoft can’t entirely change its ways. That Chromium browser, Edge? Microsoft really wants you to use it. And not Chrome, or Firefox, or any other browser. And to accomplish that goal, it looks like the tech behemoth will take some drastic steps to force your compliance. Hit the top story for the details.

Other Highlights:

  • Sure, you may have a great gaming PC, but it’s without an equally great headset, keyboard, or mouse; it’s not really complete. Don’t worry; we gathered the best of the best for you.
  • Disney+ announced a raft of new shows and movies coming to the service next year, but I’m sold on Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers and X-Men 97.
  • Look at these Lord of the Rings keycaps. Your keyboard could look like Elvish! We wants it! We neeeeeeds it.
  • …and more!

When the iPhone 13 launched earlier this year, iFixit called the device “a new low for repairability.” citing its aggressive anti-repair safeguards. A similar safeguard makes an appearance in the new Pixel 6, but much to Google’s credit, it serves a clear purpose and does not prevent at-home or “unauthorized” repairs. Read More »

And if that’s not enough, the streaming service is still offering new and returning subscribers a month of access for just $2—that’s way cheaper than watching Shang-Chi at a theater! Read More »
