MegaMaker - Underrated superpower

Howdy!

Three things for you this Saturday: a cool way to visualize your year, community-building, and some deals.

📺 How to create a 2022 product plan

Here's how I'm visualizing next year's product calendar for Transistor.fm; organized around "big feature milestones."

The point of this exercise isn't for these plans to be "set in stone." Rather, it's a way of visualizing the year. The point is that this outline is flexible. At the end of each cycle (during the cool down), we'll reassess our priorities, and decide what we want to work on next.

It was inspired by Adam Wathan's episode on Art of Product where he explains how he does Basecamp's Shape Up process:

So to me, like the fundamental piece of it is: "Fixed time. Flexible scope." It's like a really powerful way to build things and actually get things done. So instead of trying to estimate how long something's going to take and then just working on it until it's done, you try to figure out: "okay, how much time is this worth to us? Like, what can we invest in solving this problem?"

📑 Here's a Blank Google Sheets template you can use.

✊ Building community is a super power

For me personally, starting MegaMaker (a community for indie makers) is one of the most impactful things I've done. Through the community, me and my members have helped each other build and launch countless projects.
