Note from the editor

It's officially a new year! That may excite you, or perhaps, like me, you're wondering how it's already 2022.

You can set that existential dread aside for the moment because we'd like to spend our first newsletter of the year journeying back through 2021. We've shown you some of our top news stories from the year and some of the top trends that have shaped the retail landscape, but today we'd like to share what we loved most in the past year.

Of course, we always enjoy bringing you the top news in the industry — and some of our recent stories are included here for those of you who are hankering to get back to the grind — but we've also thrown in the pieces we can't stop thinking about. Whether it was covering a new subject, exploring a topic that went way deeper than we thought it would or just having a lot of fun, these features made an impact on us.

So today: We're sharing them with you. Our hope is you sit down, take a beat to soak in the last of the holiday season and enjoy some really great stories from the past year. If that's not your speed, don't worry! We'll be back tomorrow with our usual lineup of news coverage.

Cheers,
