Trevor McKendrick - Announcing my new company right now

Hi everyone!

I’m extremely excited to announce my new company: Seis, banking built 100% in Spanish for the 44 million native Spanish speakers living in the US.

We’ve raised > $5m from Y Combinator, Immad Akhund, Elad Gil, Shrug Capital, Austen Allred, Jason Garcia, Sam Parr, Shaan Puri, Deepak Chhugani, Annie Riley, Max Mullen, Patrick McKenzie, Album VC, Peterson Ventures, & other great investors.

I’m going to explain everything but first can you do me a huge favor?

Literally 60 seconds ago I posted my announcement of Seis on my personal Twitter & LinkedIn - I’d super appreciate it if you boosted those on your own socials!

It means a ton to me & to our company…. thank you!!

Okay, so why are we building Seis?

I lived in Oaxaca, Mexico for years and I’ve seen many friends immigrate to the US and either be taken advantage of by the US financial system, or shut off access entirely.

When you dig into the details you find out this happens for a lot of different, complicated reasons, from education to language to general fear & mistrust.

Many of our customers have been repeatedly rejected by other financial institutions, to the point where they give up hope & decide to opt out altogether.

The ones who do manage to get, say, a bank account often are afraid of the financial system and therefore don’t use it as much as they could, usually to the detriment of paying additional fees.

We want to break down those barriers by 1) making trustworthy products 100% only in Spanish, w/ native Spanish speaking team members, 2) providing a bank account that you can open w/o an SSN, and 3) building a community of support/education for the specific needs of our customers.

Our first product is a checking account that’s 10x easier to open for someone w/o an SSN. We’ve launched on iOS & Android & are already struggling to keep up with demand. Our dashboards clearly tell us this is an underserved market, and boy do we hear it when we can’t keep up.

Customers are already asking us for other things like credit cards, investment products, and mortgages. They ask us both because their access is limited, and because our customers fundamentally trust us more.

Today we serve 1 client type (recent immigrants) w/ 1 product (bank accounts).

Tomorrow we’ll serve the entire US Spanish speaking population w/ products built specifically for Spanish speaking families (think things like international remittances & intergenerational joint accounts)

I previously built another business 100% in Spanish for US Spanish speakers that grew to >1 million users, and have seen how underserved many parts of this market can be.

Our north star is to treat our customers as 1st class citizens and end dial #2 for español

If any of this sounds interesting to you, we are hiring! All jobs are here: seis.com/jobs.

If you don’t see something that applies to you but are interested, email me directly: trevor@seis.com

Thank you so much for your support, and I’m super glad to finally be able to tell you about Seis.

And one final ask to share my tweet & my LinkedIn post:
