[News] This can worsen the supply chain problem

Freedom

If you’re planning to visit the Great White North soon, you’ll be met by thousands of truckers protesting cross-border vaccine requirements. Along with other logistical problems, this protest negatively affects the supply chain between Canada and the United States.

How disruptive is it?

Amazon Top Movers

The month of love is here. Valentine's Day is approaching, and Amazon sellers have already begun to woo their customers. Here are the hottest keywords on Amazon from January 23th to February 5th.

In the #1 spot, we’ve got the keyword “vibatorors for women,” and products related to this keyword are selling up to 2,568 units per day for the past two weeks.

If you’re thinking about selling seasonal items for Valentine's Day, read this article first to check if it’s a good fit for you.

The Super Bowl weekend is upon us! After the NFL season, people are down to two teams: the Bengals and the Rams. And in celebration, the demand for merchandise has increased. There are three keywords related to this event, which occupied several spots in this week’s top 10.

Pay Raise at Amazon

When the pandemic hit, a lot of people in the workforce had time to reflect upon their value and the things that really matter in life—oh, the wonders of isolation!

After the great lockdown came the Great Resignation, and the e-commerce giant is willing to loosen the purse strings a bit to keep their best people from leaving.

A leaked Amazon memo revealed that the company is going to double the maximum base pay for some of its corporate tech employees because of increased competition. Of course, this is not applicable to all corporate workers, and the raise would be determined by employees’ performance and the essentiality of their functions, among other factors. Non-corporate workers are also getting higher pay, with Amazon offering a minimum of $18 an hour.

The company has also surpassed 1 million direct employees in the United States, hiring more people to work on their new warehouses. This mass hiring and pay raises of course have to come from somewhere. This is why Prime memberships will increase from $119 to $139.

Amazon Is a Grocer

Amazon has dominated the ecommerce world, and it’s starting to work more towards establishing physical stores. But there’s a downside to trying to be king of both online and brick-and-mortar.

Amazon is now considered a grocer by UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), and it’s not too happy about it.

This means Amazon has to comply with the Groceries Supply Code of Practice, which contains important prohibitions such as making changes to supply contracts on short notice and unfairly treating suppliers. Amazon’s compliance will be overseen by an independent body.

The company called CMA’s ruling a “chilling precedent,” but the fact remains that there are multiple Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods stores in London alone.

Etc.

Set your prices right. Amazon announced that sellers can now easily view how their prices compare with others, both on and off Amazon.

No more Facebook in Europe? Meta warns it may remove Facebook in Europe, but leaders couldn’t care less.

Of launches and keywords. The webinar we’re having tomorrow at 1 PM (PST) is an important one, so it deserves another mention. See you there!
