Mighty Knowledge - 📜 Unlearning Perfectionism
Hi friend.
What do you think about perfectionism? In some ways, I think it can be a positive thing, in the sense that it pushes you to work harder and achieve your full potential. There's always room for improvement after all.
The problem is that it's hard to strive for perfection in a healthy way. Perfect is a constantly moving target, one that is missed 99.99% of the time and that can be discouraging. On top of that, striving to achieve such a difficult goal as perfect can put a heavy toll on your health, both mind and body. There must be a better way to grow, succeed, and achieve a great life.
I really enjoyed reading this article on the topic: Unlearning Perfectionism. It first discusses the drawbacks of perfectionism, both in terms of health (mind and body) and the practicality of it (perfectionism might not even be an optimal strategy). Then the author dives into the alternative: the pursuit of excellence, which is geared towards growth and general improvement, rather than reaching some perfect, golden state. I totally recommend the article if you're an ambitious person as it has a lot of great ideas about de-stressing and having a smart, healthy approach to achieving big goals.
Happy learning,
George
