End notes
We know there are more important things going on in the world today.
There have been some significant initiatives from our industry over the past week which I think have potential to be persistent channels of support for the people of Ukraine. I am going to try and figure out a way to make these resources ‘stick’ so that we are not overly reliant on email circulars or social shout outs to discover them.
I also have to note the emergence of a febrile atmosphere, stoked by keyboard warriors for whom this unfolding tragedy seems mainly to be a form of entertainment. I am reminded of the world as it was in the aftermath of Sept 11, where justifiable public outrage was manipulated by those with a wider plan to secure consent for an open ended campaign of war which destroyed several countries, killed 1 million people, and displaced millions more.
We on the outside need to care, passionately so. We have to act, decisively so. But we also have to be careful not to have our compassion subverted by those who do not share it.
Have a good week as you can friends.
