Are teachers underpaid?

Context: Minneapolis public school leaders go on strike.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - As a teacher myself, I can say that my salary does not support my family. Not only that, but the 6yrs that it took me to get my degree and teaching certification make for some hefty student loan payments that I simply cannot afford with my teaching salary. Throughout my 10yrs teaching I’ve had a part-time job in addition to my full-time teaching position as well as a full-time summer position so I can make ends meet. No - They are underfunded, but not overpaid. They work 8 hour days, and get two months off. Get out of here with 'they need a raise'. Their efforts d...

Unsure - The pay scale for teachers is set locally. Some are overpaid, some are underpaid. What I am sure of is that they...
