Todays Market Observations:

1. News leaks that Russia is asking China for military aid

2. Iran is firing short range ICBM’s near a US consulate

3. There’s a covid outbreak/lockdown in China

4. Consumer confidence is at a 10 year low

5. Producers Price Index comes out tomorrow

6. Fed is primed to raise rates on Wednesday

7. Retail Sales come out on Wednesday

8. Ukraine belligerency continues with no foreseeable end

9. Treasury yields are up

10. 40 year high inflation

11. Record high gas prices

12. Institutions having margin trouble

13. AND THE FUTURES ARE DEEP GREEN!!?? REALLY!!??

    I refuse to believe it folks! It makes absolutely no sense for the morning to be so bullish UNLESS the market has found somewhat of a bottom … or big money has decided that this is a great place to leg in at. We all know this can switch on a dime in intraday trading. I’m careful & skeptical. No stocks added to the BUY LIST today. I don’t buy amid market conditions that make no sense! But wow what a beating the BUY LIST has taken! Down nearly 14%!

• CHINA/RUSSIA NEWS: US “sources” claim that Russia asked China for military aid for the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. The Chinese Ambassador to the US say’s he’s “never heard of that.”

• ANALYSIS: First, we must recognize that this could simply be made up to put China on notice & get some leverage as a preface to US/China talks. Nevertheless, there is little chance that Russia would have invaded the Ukraine without making a deal with China to help take some of the sting out of the easily foreseeable sanctions ... particularly on trade (Which they did SOURCE SOURCE SOURCE SOURCE). China is therefore an enabler of Russia ... & they know it. China would be hard pressed to provide military aid to Russia without first invading Taiwan. China will want to stall US sanctions until they’ve earned them through an invasion, … that’s if they decide to invade Taiwan at all. There is certainly a solid chance that there is an agreement between Russia & China that recognizes each of their territorial asperations. There’s even a chance that they both agreed to hit the Ukraine/Taiwan somewhat close together. However if this is the case, China may have gotten cold feet by the worlds response to Russia. This most recent “request for military aid” may be Russia trying to get China back into their end of the deal. Either way, if China invades Taiwan it means sanctions on our largest trading partner, & that means an instant recession in the United States. $AAPL, $MSFT, $TSLA, $DIS, & many many many more companies cannot fully operate without China. Indeed China has been playing the economic long game for years, & may see our weakening post COVID economy as their chance to strike. We certainly need them more than they need us when it comes to the American standard of life. And regardless what China does in the short run (Short of invading or openly supporting Russia), the US will be very hesitant to sanction China, leaving sanctions open as a deterrent as they did with Russia.

• IRAN/RUSSIA NEWS: Iran launched a group of short range ICBM’s near the US consulate in Irbil. Iran says the targets were Israeli’s, as retaliation for an Israeli strike in Syria that killed two members of its Revolutionary Guard earlier this week.

• ANALYSIS: It is surprising that Iran, who is currently in nuclear negotiations with the US (mediated by Russia), would want to piss off the US if they wanted the negotiations to bear fruit. It may be the case that they are sending a signal to the US to back off of Russia. If this is the case then Iran could care less about the ongoing negotiations. But why? The only reason I can think of is the event that they have been guaranteed something good from Russia. And not only is the relationship between Iran/Russia much better than that of the US, but Russia may be desperate enough to attempt to convince Iran to gum some shit up. The fact that they’ve done just this is disturbing. The last time Iran sent SRICBM’s into Iraq was shortly after President Trump ordered a hit on IRGC General Soleimani for enabling militias to target US troops in the region.
