RECC’E OF THE DAY

1NIGHT spent sleeping in a room with even low level light can disrupt blood sugar control enough to affect the way our bodies normally keep blood sugar within a healthy range.

100LUX - the lighting equivalent of leaving the TV on, a bedside lamp or even a street light coming through the window - is all it takes to worsen blood sugar. Scientists confirmed that while you might think your sleeping well, your brain knows the lights are on.

TRACKING: UKRAINE

726CIVILIAN deaths and 1900 casualties are the latest official figures from the UN however the true death toll remains unclear as Ukrainian officials have reported more than 1000 deaths in several individual cities alone.

2DAYS AGO satellite images showed a theatre in Mariupol where hundreds of people - including children - were sheltering, it clearly had the word ‘Children’ written on the ground outside in front and behind the building which was visible from the skies. Today its confirmed that Russian forces have bombed and completely destroyed the building with all those inside likely to have been killed.

4thRUSSIAN general has now been killed as Putin calls for the “self-purification” of Russia and states the country will “spit out” traitors. The international court of justice has now ordered that Russia cease military operations in Ukraine immediately.

21kAPP installs of Elon Musk’s ‘Starlink’ made it the most downloaded application on the Apple App Store in Ukraine on Sunday. It has seen 98k installs in Ukraine overall across both IOS and Android.

$800mPACKAGE of military supplies is being sent from the U.S to Ukraine which will include drones. This comes as Biden brands Putin a “war criminal” with Putin responding by describing these comments as “unacceptable and unforgivable”.

9CAPTURED Russian soldiers have been exchanged for the Melitopol Mayor as a deepfake video - one almost indistinguishable from reality using smart technology - of Zelenskyy appearing to concede the war is called out after being seen more than 100k times.

15POINT provisional peace plan is being discussed which would involve a ceasefire and Russian withdrawal in exchange for Kyiv agreeing to neutral status and limits on its armed forces. The details are being contested by both sides with no formal agreements in place.

Now Australia has become the first country to approve the anti-malarial drug ‘tafenoquine’ for use in children. Tafenoquine can cure a type of malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax which causes up to 5 million malaria infections every year and children aged 2 to 6 are four times more likely than adults to contract it.

27HALLUCINOGENIC drugs and their effects have been analysed across 6,850 testimonials in order to figure out how and why hallucinogenics trigger certain experiences. Researchers found keywords from hallucinogenic experiences can be linked to certain parts of the brain meaning word association could now be a target for treating mental health issues.

20%OF MONKEYS who had received treatment and recovered from Ebola - which has a 50% fatality rate - have been found to have the virus ’ hiding out’ in their brain asymptomatically which can and has led to recurrent fatal infections. Ebola is known for a high level of viral persistence meaning the virus remains lurking in the body even after a patient has recovered but it was not known prior to this where this predominant hiding place was. The breakthrough could hugely impact future treatment for humans.
