Folyo - Q&A on Getting Clients

In this email I'm going to try to answer some of the most common questions I get about finding agency clients.

First up:

"How do you know if the leads you generate are going to be any good or worth my time?"

Great question.

For my Folyo PRO Leads Program, I've developed 4 criteria when looking for a good lead.

They are:

1 - High Problem Awareness:

Every lead I send already knows they need help.

They have a problem they need solved and are looking to pay for someone to solve it.

These people want you to email them and follow up with them.

That's make a big difference.

I'm not a fan of cold-calling.

2 - Good Budget:

The next criteria for every lead I send is a realistic, high-paying, budget.

It doesn't matter how great a lead is if they don't have the money to pay you.

Typically a good budget for Folyo PRO is in the range of: $10,000–$40,000+.

The exact number can depend on the complexity of the project.

3 - Good Company Reputation:

Shady-looking companies are never good leads.

If a company doesn't look trust-worthy I filter them out.

I even stay away from entire industries that I don't believe will produce good work.

4 - Realistic Scope of Work:

My final criteria is a realistic scope of work.

Realistic expectations is one of the best ways to determine if a lead will be easy to work with.

If a client wants an Ebay clone built in 3 days for $500, this is an obvious red flag.

This is the criteria I use for Folyo PRO.

"What if I'm just getting started?"

You're ready.

This is a super common concern.

And the truth is that yes, your business is a little bit different than the next.

BUT the rules of the universe still apply.

Lead generation systems that works for 99% of businesses will work for you.

It's important that you stop pretending your business is so unique that you have to do everything differently.

You can learn from others and skip years of trial and error.

"What if my clients are [insert hyper-specific niche]?"

Most people don't need perfectly tailored systems.

They simply need to take action.

Often, the idea that our business is too niche is actually procrastination rearing it's head.
