Pragmatic Consulting Club - Question For Book Lovers

Do you enjoy reading non-fiction books? If yes, I have a quick question for you.

As an avid reader myself, I'm constantly exchanging book recommendations with other founders and consulting partners. During the last months, I've been thinking about ways to bring this passion to this blog - sharing more value with those of you who also seek books to explore new ideas and challenge perspectives.

Based on informal conversations with a couple of dozen consultants, I identified that the two biggest challenges or desires are:

1. Curation: With an avalanche of new books coming to market every month, choosing what to read is as important as finding the time to read it. Consultants mostly pick books that they’ve heard of, which often means generic best sellers. They long for books that are relevant and surprising.
2. Group discussion: Two-thirds of the people I spoke to mentioned they would enjoy meeting and engaging with other book lover consultants. It's a fun way to meet new people while also pushing you to improve your reading habit.

How can we solve this? I have two potential ideas: an exclusive book club for consultants, or publishing curated book reviews.

The book club would be open to all of you readers, and could include monthly virtual meetups for discussion and networking. I'd shortlist titles for participants to elect the next book of the month.

Or I could start publishing reviews of the books I'm already reading here on the blog. You lose the opportunity to engage with other readers, but there's no need to commit time to recurring meetings.
