We’ve taken data from April 17th to April 30th to show you the most-searched keywords on Amazon over the last two weeks. In this section, we’ll discover how much some of these keywords surged in popularity, and why these terms were trending, so let’s jump right in. 

There are many reasons why moms deserve to be celebrated all year round, but they get a designated day as well. The terms “regalos para el dia de la madre” and “mothers day gift basket” are taking slots #3 and slot #10 in today’s top terms. Some of these products related to this keyword have sold 259 units per day in the past few days.

Amazon Workers Vote Against Unionization

The victory headed by Chris Smalls last month is still fresh, but it looks like the new labor union still has a lot of work to do. Amazon is challenging the results in court, and another New York warehouse voted against unionization last Monday.

In a dramatic turn of events, 62% of Amazon workers in a different Staten Island facility said no to unionization. However, there may still be a different ending to this story because allegedly, Amazon held anti-unionization meetings and distributed anti-union flyers among other things leading up to the election.

On the other hand, while the Amazon Labor Union (ALU) is still deciding whether to question the results, Amazon is getting a hearing that could overturn their win. Amazon is accusing the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) of supporting the union drive and the labor organizers of intimidating workers.

To recall, there was a 58% turnout during the questioned election, with 55% voting for unionization. An Amazon spokesperson said that they want their employee’s voices to be heard, and with fewer than a third voting for unionization, they’re questioning if this is really what the majority wants.

Amazon Q1 Earnings

In case you missed it, Amazon released its Q1 2022 Earnings report, and the numbers are nothing short of underwhelming.

Jeff Bezos saw a big portion of his fortune fade as his company’s stock dropped. In particular, ecommerce revenue is down 3% year-over-year, which it attributes to several factors, including the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

However, AWS continues to rake in more money after it saw a 37-percent year-over-year increase. It’s also not surprising that the revenue from its advertising service is up 23% as Amazon becomes more of a pay-to-play marketplace.
