The Steal Club - The 1h Twitter growth framework

In this week's issue, we'll cover a 1h framework for Twitter growth, a couple of unusual content formats and a mini-essay on creators becoming businesses.

Ah, and some news on a product I'm working on.

Jay-Z, one of the most famous rappers and businessmen of all time, said the above quote.

This quote makes me think about the booming creator economy.

Up until now, I’ve launched three different digital products (one more next week, more on that below).

Between all of them, they’ve made over $8,000.

It might not seem like a crazy amount, but it feels pretty amazing to me.

The thing is, between all the launches, every time a new sale came in, I recognized most of the names of the purchasers.

Most of them were people I already connected with in one way or another.

Maybe it was a DM, maybe they reply to my tweets from time to time or maybe they are a newsletter subscriber.

Whatever it is, the thing is that they bought the product because it comes from ME.

With time, I've earned their trust somehow.

I realized I'm the business, man.

And I've been on the other side too. For the last months, I found myself purchasing other creators' products for the same reason.

I know the product will be good because it comes specifically from THEM.

Now that I have an inside view, I'm sure the future will be made of small, creator businesses, run by real people.

These are sustainable, profitable from day one and creator-based businesses.

They won't become the next Amazon, nor do they need to.

They aren't businessmen nor do they want to be.

The creator IS the business.

We, the creators, ARE the business, man.

Instead of the typical formats that we usually cover in this section, these are a bit different.

They often play with icons and objects from outside Twitter (from pages like coolsymbol).

Let’s see it best with this example from Alice 👇

It’s cute. It stops the audience from scrolling. And it shares an “on-brand” message for Alice.

As you can see from the numbers, it works.

The thing with using this kind of formats is that they are “scroll-stoppers”.

On Twitter, we all see text, text and more text. Well, maybe some visual here and there.

But when we are scrolling, and we see something like the tweet above, we stop.

A couple more examples:

How cool is this one? A perfect way to compare two different ideas.

And then this one (which I stole from Gabriela, above 😅):

As you can see, using this formats is a cool way to break through the feed’s noise and get more attention from the audience.

To replicate them, simply go to the original tweet, copy the format and paste it wherever you want to publish it. Here are the links to the tweets:

A few months ago I posted a thread on Twitter that did quite well.

It answered the “How should I spend my time on Twitter” question. Something I get asked a lot on my DMs.

Here’s the short of it:

If I only had one hour a day to invest in my Twitter growth, this is what I would do👇

20 minutes for content creation

Enough to write and schedule 1-2 tweets

15 minutes for cold engagement*

*For people that you don’t know personally

• DM 1 person you admire
• Engage with 1 bigger account in your niche
• Engage with 1 “fast-rising” account in your niche

15 minutes for warm engagement*

*People that you know already or that they know you

• DM 1 new follower
• Engage with 2-3 people in your network (your Twitter friends)

10 extra minutes for👇

• Analyze your tweets' performance to iterate
• Plan for the next day
• Build a swipe file
• Or take the extra time to engage more!

I realize that some of you don’t even have an hour to invest. Take the % instead. Take how much time you have and allocate these percentages to it:

• 40% to content creation
• 25% to cold engagement
• 25% to warm engagement
• 10% extra stuff
