• Almost all of Tuesday’s election results are in, and they held major wins and losses for nearly every faction of the Democratic and Republican Parties. [National Public Radio / Domenico Montanaro]
• Progressive Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman won decisively in Pennsylvania, while Donald Trump-backed Mehmet Oz’s bid for the Republican nomination is too close to call. [Washington Post / Michael Scherer]
• Trump pick state Sen. Doug Mastriano, who has peddled false claims that the 2020 election was stolen, won the GOP nomination for Pennsylvania governor. [The Hill / Niall Stanage]
• Establishment-backed state Sen. Chuck Edwards beat scandal-plagued Rep. Madison Cawthorn in North Carolina despite Trump asking voters to give Cawthorn a second chance. [CNN /Rachel Janfaza]
• Super PAC funding failed to defeat progressive Pennsylvania state Rep. Summer Lee, who won the Democratic primary against anti-union attorney Steve Irwin, and couldn’t help Carrick Flynn beat Rep. Andrea Salinas, who will be Oregon’s first Latina in Congress. [The Intercept / Ryan Grim]
• Next Tuesday, Georgia, Alabama, and Arkansas will hold their primaries, while Texas will have runoffs to decide races that weren’t settled in March. [Bloomberg / Emma Kinery]

A Russian soldier pleads guilty to war crimes in Ukraine

• A 21-year-old Russian soldier pleaded guilty to killing a 62-year-old unarmed cyclist in the first war crimes trial since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. [BBC / Sarah Rainsford]
• Prosecutors say the soldier and other Russian soldiers were attempting to escape after coming under fire from Ukrainian forces. The soldier was allegedly told to shoot the victim to avoid detection. [CBS News / Haley Ott]
• With the help of the US and the international community, Ukrainian prosecutors are investigating more than 10,000 potential war crimes. [Associated Press]
• Three judges must reach a unanimous decision if the soldier is to be convicted and sentenced. He who faces life in prison. [Guardian / Emma Graham-Harrison]

• Turkey derailed talks on bringing Sweden and Finland into NATO, citing security concerns. [Deutsche Welle]
