2. Automations

There’s something called the Customer Life Journey (CLJ), and it is basically the path that every customer follows to make a purchase; this journey has 5 main stages.


- awareness
- consideration
- purchase
- retention
- loyalty

and in each and every stage of this CLF, we have to increase conversions using automated flows; here's the thinking behind it

Awareness

The 1st stage in the customer life journey is the awareness phase.

This is the point where a consumer first becomes aware of your business offerings.

and wants to learn more about your business,

so it is typically considered the most important phase in this cycle

In this stage, we automate the welcome flow:

which is a flow that introduces your brand to the prospect and takes advantage of that first interest to make them buy!

This is how we do it at my agency:

Email 1: give bait offered in the pop-up
Email 2: introduce your brand
Email 3: promote best sellers
Email 4: value + Remind people about the code
Email 5: remind about the code + add urgency


Consideration:

this is the stage where your prospects have done their initial research and are aware of some of the options they can choose from. However, their research phase isn’t over yet.

they have narrowed down their options, even added a product to the cart, but they are still skeptical about your products

this is the stage where they compare your product to other solutions on the market.

they are making price comparisons

reading customer reviews

checking out competitors

and learning more about the details of your product to see if it could be, in fact, what they have been looking for.

In this stage, we automate the following flows:

- site abandonment
- browse abandonment
- cart/checkout abandonment

Here are 3 keys to success with these flows:

- tackle down your prospect objections
- show how your solution works for other people
- make your offer irresistible using guarantees and incentives


Action:

here, we arrive at the point where a prospect becomes a customer.

they’ve evaluated the brand's offerings and decided to buy from them.

but, once our hard work in the prior stages results in a sale, it’s not time to rest…

every purchase should be followed with a post-purchase sequence that:

- thanks the buyer for the purchase
- offers content specific to the items purchased or adds value to the customer in any other way
- ask customers to leave a review


Retention

It’s far easier and roughly 5 times cheaper to retain an existing customer than it is to acquire a new one.

Also, it’s hard to build enough trust with a prospect to turn them into a first-time buyer, so once you’ve gained their trust and their business, you should be working hard to maintain it.

The retention phase is all about deepening the relationship with the customer after the purchase so that they are more likely to buy from you again.

There’s this stat that I love that says there is a 20% chance that a 1x buyer converts into a 2x buyer, but once they are a 2x buyer, it’s 60% more likely they become a 3x,4x,5x buyer, so definitely you want to work hard to make your buyers make that 2nd purchase!

Here are 7 flows you can automate for this  retention stage of the CLJ:

- Low in stock
- Milestone
- Back in stock
- Up-sell/cross-sell flow.
- Winback flow.
- Re-engagement
- Birthday or first purchase anniversary


Advocacy

this is the last stage of the customer journey and the hardest to achieve...

This is the phase of the customer journey where the customer becomes an active advocate for your brand.

they start saying great things about you and your company

they refer their friends and family to you

they generate the most powerful kind of marketing your company can ever have which is word-of-mouth.
