TODAYS OBSERVATIONS: Futures are jumping after Fridays dip, however I wouldn’t get your hopes up with inflation numbers coming this Friday. European & Asian Markets markets were up this morning as well. Europe is snapping a losing streak as a result of inflation data & Asia markets are reacting positively to the reversal of China lockdowns. Will the latter be enough to get people to ignore the fact that inflation data is barreling toward us this week? I’m uncertain. I have a feeling, (A FEELING) based on past experience, that if people discount inflation & the market continues to rally this week, it will dump slightly prior or after inflation numbers are reported. However if the market dumps prior to the inflation numbers, it may rally after … unless expectations are way off. Inflation this Friday is expected to come in at 8.3% year over year… same as the month prior, however still higher when we consider a MoM basis.

GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO BITE: National average price of a gallon of regular is $4.865. That’s $0.135 away from an average of $5.00. Diesel has also hit another record at $4.645. Is President Biden inviting oil executives to the White House to figure a way out over this mess? No … in fact … he’s doubling down on seeking more oil from the Middle East & restricting drilling even more in the United States. Will he find success in the Middle East? All indicators point to no. The Saudi’s wont take his calls, they’re increasing oil prices, & it looks that Biden has cancelled his planned trip. Remember that Biden called Saudi Arabia a “Praia State, he stopped supplying the Saudi’s with offensive weapons to fight the Iranian backed Houthi Rebels (Who are targeting Saudi oil infrastructure), & many in his own party object to his visit to Saudi Arabia. The Saudi’s are not likely to make a deal with Biden without some serious concessions. Gas will continue to rise folks.
