TODAYS OBSERVATIONS: Stock Futures look to be rebounding after yesterdays wild ride. Personally I always ignore the futures. European exchanges were up while Asian indexes closed mostly lower. OPEC meets today so expect some volatility in the oil market. Oil prices are declining in expectation of OPEC ramping up production to perhaps fill the Russian void.

Remember the Federal Reserve has begun offloading their balance sheet (starting yesterday). How much do they have on the balance sheet? Roughly $9 Trillion in assets. How will they offload their balance sheet? They look to sell up to $60b in Treasuries & $35b in Mortgage Backed Securities a Month. That’s roughly $95b in M2 reduction per month … or nearly $1.14T a year. This is why the Fed isn’t raising the interest rates higher as demanded by many analysts (who I agree with). They expect sucking so much money out of the economy will make up for the Feds lack of interest rate aggressiveness. Don’t think raising rates each month & reducing the balance sheet will have all that large of an impact? I assess it will be massive roughly 6 months to a year from now.

AM I STILL BEARISH?: You betcha! I will reiterate what I’ve already said before: The true effects of the bulk of China Lockdowns & the Ukraine War/Sanctions will not be realized until next earnings. People are now economizing on their needs & cutting back on their wants.

THIS WEEK’S MAJOR ECONOMIC CATALYSTS: May ADP Employment Change (TODAY 0815ET with a 300k Consensus). April change came in at 247k. May Unemployment Rate/Non-Farm Payrolls: Friday 0830ET analyst expect a 3.5% unemployment rate with 325k jobs added.
