Aura acquired Comparitech for an estimated $50-100 million in a silent takeover back in October, 2021.

And while that is an incredible exit and great for the owners, not everyone is happy about it.

For context, Comparitech is (was) a popular and reputable VPN review and comparison site.

But its new owner - Aura Inc. is the parent company of many VPN service providers including HotSpot Shield, Ultra VPN, Betternet, and VPN 360.

The acquisition has rightfully raised some eyebrows over the future of the review site and its newfound conflict of interests.
