It's easy to be anti-meeting. It's hard to do async right.

Async reporting/updates that also get read and debated by the group does not happen without a significant effort and cultural shift.

Async updates/reports are easy to skip, ignore or to simply do a quick glance-over.

It's easy not to post progress reports because hey - they're gonna be ignored by most anyway right. I'm as guilty as anyone even though I'm very pro async. It requires a conscious effort and needs to be actively managed.

Most folks enjoy less meetings, but async needs full buy-in and active participation from everyone. Otherwise that meeting that should have been an email will need to be a meeting.
