Source: The Conversation

  1. Summary
The shooting occurred at a Walmart in Virginia. The assailant, 31, was reportedly a manager at the store. Police confirmed he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Six died, including the shooter, and six were hospitalized, with one in critical condition.

Police have stated the suspect was armed with a single handgun. Walmart has reported that he had been employed with the company since 2010, and was an overnight shift manager. Police are still trying to discern a motive. The store was busy with shoppers preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday, and will remain closed as police continue investigations.

A witness said the gunman began shooting at employees as they assembled in the meeting room before the start of their shift. The witness said that the shooter targeted other managers. Another witness said the shooter was firing indiscriminately and did not appear to focus on any particular person. That witness stated that the shooter previously had a reputation for bullying coworkers.

Should Congress be able to see the tax returns of a sitting or former president?

612 votes, 76 comments

Context: Supreme Court rejects former President Trump's bid to protect his tax returns from House committee.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - The founders of this nation were very adamant about not having a King, instead, they created co-equal branches of the government for checks and balances. The constitution allows congress to review anyone's tax returns and the President (sitting or not) should not be excused. It is important that we (the American People) know whether or not our head of state has conflicts of interests.
