AI is the here to stay

There’s a lot of chat about AI (Artificial Intelligence) around the internet these days, all thanks to the ChatGPT launch.

I won’t go deep on everything that you can do with it but I encourage take it for a spin, it’s super fun.

The important thing here is how AI is affecting us as creators.Personally, I think AI will become the perfect creator companion.

Future winning content won’t be done BY AI.

It will be done WITH AI.

A cool example from Arvid Khal:

The danger is that if you ONLY rely on AI for your content, you’ll be one more drop in an ocean of generic content.

The creators who will win in the future will be the ones who combine AI + their unique perspective.

Anniversary gift

Josh Spector is an awesome creator and newsletter operator.

A few months back, he decided to reward his most loyal subscribers by sending them an “anniversary gift”.

But what is this gift?

This got me super curious so I dug a little bit deeper. This is what I found out (so you can steal it):

• Subscriber hits a milestone (e.g 6 months subscribed)
• Josh sends the “anniversary gift” (e.g 50% discount on a product)
• If the subscriber doesn’t redeem it, nothing happens.
• If the subscriber member redeems it, they get a new email
• This new email has a special offer to get into Josh’s membership

For what Josh says, this offer works pretty well! And it makes total sense for his audience.

If you have been a follower for over 6 months, it means you already know Josh and trust him.

If he presents one of his offers with a big discount, you are way more likely to buy it.

This is a really good example on how to use your audience’s data in your favor.

It’s unexpected value.

And some studies show that unexpected value is what drives long-term customer loyalty.

Story writing structure

Dagobert is a great follow if you like startup memes.

But he’s also really good at writing single tweets. Personally, I really emoji his story type of tweets.

He kinda coined this way of writing them, with a story, separated sentences with blank space and an emoji at the end:

Dagobert Renouf @dagorenouf I explained my startup idea to a couple of friends before building it. They loved it and said it would be a huge success 🔥 Then we launched and none of them used it 😭 So in the end I hadn’t validated my product… I just validated I had nice friends 😅 August 30th 2021 251 Retweets 2146 Likes

This structure is super simple to steal:

• I did this
• Then this happened
• But a problem appeared
• Explain the problem
• Share what you learned

Hooks that work

Youtube is home of the best title writers on the internet.

A while back I found this thread from Jake Thomas (en expert at writing Youtube titles).

Jake Thomas @jthomas__ I A/B tested 103 YouTube titles last month. Here’s what worked: October 15th 2022 230 Retweets 2278 Likes

Here’s the TL;DR of what works best:

• Negativity drives more attention.
• “List” titles (5 Tips to X) did better than “How to” titles
• Shorter titles performed slightly better than longer ones
• Statements (This is X) did better than questions (Is this X?)
• Calling out beginners works well (The best X for beginners)
• “Do this” increases CTR by generating curiosity (The best creators DO THIS)

I’ve tried to incorporate some of these tips into this newsletter’s subject line.
