Ethereum developer: Goerli will be shut down eventually link Ethereum developer @TimBeiko tweeted to disclose the current state and future plans of the Ethereum test network: Goerli will be shut down eventually, future testnets, incl. Sepolia, can mint more ETH, and hopefully ones after that can include more addresses in genesis files. b. Scroll releases testnet version of Ethereum L2 on Goerli testnet link Scroll has released a testnet version of its Ethereum L2 on the Goerli testnet, transitioning zk-EVM from pre-alpha (launched in August 2022) to the alpha testing stage, which will be the final phase before its mainnet launch. c. Vitalik discusses cryptocurrency payment failures and solutions in new article link Vitalik posted an article discussing the failure experience of cryptocurrency payments, long delays, the need for a better UI, and better forms of account abstraction to remove the need for centralized or even federated relays, and commoditize the relaying role. d. Ethereum Foundation offers grants to improve Ethereum account abstraction infrastructure link The Ethereum Foundation has announced a grant of $300,000 to any builders interested in continuing to improve and strengthen the infrastructure related to Ethereum account abstraction. The total grant fund is $300,000, with a budget cap of $50,000 for each individual proposal, and projects can apply for a standard grant program to receive additional funding. The proposal acceptance period is from February 27th to March 31st. e. Ethereum Foundation researcher: Sepolia just forked to Shapella link Ethereum Foundation researcher Alex Stokes tweeted that the Shapella upgrade has been activated on the Ethereum Sepolia testnet and has progressed smoothly so far. The next step for the Shanghai upgrade before its launch on the mainnet will be to release the upgrade on the Goerli testnet, which is expected to begin in March. f. The Ethereum blockchain has deployed a feature known as “account abstraction” link The Ethereum blockchain has deployed a feature known as “account abstraction,” formally known as ERC-4337, seen as a key enhancement that could make it easier for users to recover crypto if they lose private keys to an online wallet. g. Ethereum developers target March 14 for Shanghai Upgrade on Goerli testnet link Ethereum developers are targeting March 14 for the Goerli test network to run through the Shanghai upgrade. If the launch of Shanghai on Goerli goes over smoothly, Ethereum stakeholders can expect a mainnet launch of the upgrade during the 2nd week of April. h. ConsenSys to open its EVM-equivalent zkEVM rollup to public testnet link ConsenSys will open its EVM-equivalent zkEVM rollup to public testnet on March 28th, 2023, with Zero Switching Costs and Easy Onboarding. Any dapp developer or protocol will be able to join the network, test smart contracts, and build decentralized applications. 2. Aave community discusses potential deployment of Aave V3 MVP on zkEVM mainnet link The Aave community is discussing the possibility of deploying an MVP version of Aave V3 on the zkEVM mainnet. Aave V3 has been successfully deployed on the zkEVM testnet for about 6 months since October 2022, and the ARFC proposal is seen as a “temperature check” that allows developers and risk service providers to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the zkEVM network, with the aim of establishing strategic positioning for Aave Governance on L2 networks as early as possible. 3. ZigZag’s weekly summary a. ZigZag announces airdrop plan with seven rounds link On Feb 24, ZK Rollup order book DEX ZigZag announced an airdrop plan consisting of a total of 7 rounds, with the first round having taken place in January. The total number of airdrop addresses is about 110,000, with a total airdrop amount of approximately 35,000,000 $ZZ (35% of the total supply). b. Founder of ZigZag: We’ve identified 12k sybils link On February 27th, Kedar, the founder of ZigZag, tweeted that they had identified 12k sybils. The focus for sybils was on industrial farming with 10+ accounts with the exact same L1 + zksync activity. They didn’t try to target people with 3–4 regular addresses. All the ZZ saved from the sybils will go back to users in the form a “loyal user airdrop” for our most regular users. c. ZigZag exchange has allegedly started the $ZZ airdrop link ZigZag exchange has allegedly started the $ZZ airdrop, which will automatically distribute the tokens to users’ zkSync Lite accounts without needing to apply. However, according to community feedback, only IDO participants have received the airdrop tokens so far, and the official announcement of the airdrop has yet to be made. 4. Solana’s weekly summary a. Solana network recovers cluster after attempted second restart link The Solana network’s deep freeze continued as validators were preparing a second restart attempt that they hoped would restore service to users of the blockchain. The best way to right the chain would be to synchronize a restart and fork the chain. A first attempt was abandoned when validators realized they picked the wrong point at which to restart, further lengthening the delay. The chain’s block production has ceased and transactions aren’t processing or being validated. Previously, Solana network experienced a fork in the early morning of Feb 25. b. Solana Mainnet Beta Outage Report: Root cause is still unknown link On Feb 25, Solana’s official mainnet outage report indicated that the root cause was still unknown and under active investigation. It was reported that at 05:46:16 UTC on February 25th, Solana’s mainnet experienced performance issues that eventually forced validator nodes to automatically enter “vote-only” mode, prompting the network to be restarted as a temporary measure. At approximately 01:28 UTC on February 26th, Solana’s mainnet was successfully restarted and user transactions were being processed normally. c. Solana announces plans to improve network upgrades link On Mar 1, Solana announced plans to improve network upgrades, including improving the upgrade process, forming an adversarial team, improving the restart process, continuing to focus on stability. 7. Chainlink launches a new project called Functions link Chainlink has launched a new project called Functions, which is the serverless Web3 platform for connecting data, device, or system to smart contracts. AWS, Meta, and Google Cloud have collaborated on example use cases. 8. Wallet’s weekly summary a. Robinhood Wallet is now available to all iOS customers globally link Robinhood Wallet now supports both the Polygon and Ethereum networks and is available globally via the Apple App Store. No waitlist or invitation code is required. b. Uniswap plans to launch a mobile crypto wallet app link At the EthDenver, Uniswap released its self-custodial, open-sourced mobile wallet App, which provides price monitoring tools and stores mnemonic words through Apple iCloud. But Apple refused to grant Uniswap’s request to list the App. Currently, there is no Android, which users can only use the App through TestFlight. 9. Privacy tools’ weekly summary a. Privacy network Iron Fish to launch the mainnet on March 14 link The privacy network Iron Fish announced that it will launch the mainnet on March 14, functions such as burning, trading, mining and hosting nodes will be available, and 940,000 token will airdrop to testnet participants.
