Write of Passage Weekly - Will you let time run out?

It’s easy to look at the hourglass when it’s full of sand — top-heavy, with plenty of time. We have no urgency, no anxiety. There’s time to kill.

Whether a deadline is a few hours or a few years away, we lose focus and try to fit other things into that time. We rarely begin the work before we have to. We put off errands we’re supposed to run. We avoid the business we want to start. We wait ‘til tomorrow to start writing.

At first, the grains of sand fall slowly. But as time goes on, they seem to pick up speed. We realize that our opportunity is slipping away.

There’s enough time but not infinite time. If you start writing online, you’ll change the power dynamic. Rather than racing the hourglass, you’ll live on your terms, build an audience for your ideas, and accelerate your career.
