Nat Friedman & Daniel Gross are sponsoring a contest to help read the text on ancient scrolls.

What’s particularly cool is that they’re using technology to read the scrolls without unwinding the scrolls.

i.e. if you try to unwind the scrolls, they break. So a team led by Brent Seales figured out a way to use infrared to read inside the scrolls w/o unrolling them.
