Write of Passage Weekly - Why it's called "Write of Passage"

 Want to know why I chose the name Write of Passage? 

It’s to set expectations. The name isn’t just wordplay. It’s a description of what we do and why we do it.

Rites of passage are monumental moments in our lives, marked by significant transformation. There are traditional rites like marriages, births, Bar Mitzvahs, and graduations. But when it comes to writing, you don’t have to wait around for some big life event. You can transform your life right now.

Write of Passage is a rite of passage. When I chose the name, I didn’t know it would be true for so many of our students. Rachel, a student in Cohort 2, said that Write of Passage is “a system for changing identity at scale.” Rachel is right.

As we enter our 10th cohort, I’ve never been more excited about the course. We’ve overhauled the curriculum, implementing our insights from the past four years, and we’re determined to deliver the best student experience yet.

What’s new? A lot. 

In addition to a fully overhauled curriculum, we've added more ways to support you before, during, and after the cohort. From skill-focused deep dives and accountability groups to personalized engagement dashboards and sparring gyms for ideas — there are more than ten new things to enjoy in Cohort 10.

Like most rites of passage, this course is challenging. It’s intense, and that’s the point. Transformation demands intensity — from you and from us. In school, the teachers you learned the most from were never the easy ones. They were the ones you respected, and pushed you harder than you could’ve ever pushed yourself.
