How does a new Supreme Court ruling affect the availability of mifepristone?

  1. Summary
In an unsigned order, the Supreme Court ruled that the abortion drug mifepristone can remain available in the US while legal battles play out in lower courts. The FDA approved mifepristone in 2000. The Supreme Court's order stays a ruling from District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, which had revoked the FDA's approval of the drug. His ruling also stayed the FDA's subsequent relaxation of in-person dispensing requirements.

The Biden administration and mifepristone producer Danco Laboratories appealed Kacsmaryk's ruling. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals partially acquiesced, but allowed some of Kacsmaryk's order to remain in effect. The administration urged the Supreme Court to step in, saying upholding Kacsmaryk's ruling would have "sweeping consequences for the pharmaceutical industry."

Justice Alito issued a lone public dissent, saying there was good reason to think the Biden administration would have disobeyed a lower court's ruling. It is unclear how the other justices voted.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - I’m sure we never hear about properly recorded and documented police interactions, and I’m sure those are the norm rather than the exception — but there still have been far too many instances of body cameras mysteriously not working, incident reports that contradict eyewitness accounts and evidence, dashboard cameras disconnected or blocked, and so on. The problem is that police culture has become used to protecting itself from scrutiny and accountability for so long that it’s now a habit for many, and lying and manufacturing evidence are, for some, just part of the job.

Yes - The key word in the question is “generally.” 99% of cops are good cops who hope to never ...

Unsure - I voted unsure because it really depends on the area. Where I live police are held to the high standard of honesty first. It starts ...
