Now I want to be clear....

Not every site you buy, will be able to sell sponsored posts on it for $500 each

And I wouldn't reccomend selling more than 1-2 of those a month in 99% of cases. And its super important to make sure they are a fit and good quality!

But if you get the right niche, and buy a business/website that has tons of authority, and traffic, in the right niche...its one of the easiest revenue streams to unlock.

This was an inbound request and we get 3-4 of these a month. They will write the post, we will approve and edit it, and post it. Maybe a 20 minute process on our end in total to add $500 in revenue and possibly more than double the value of the site for when we sell it.

Site Summary:

Petsvills is a content site in the pet niche. More specifically, they focus on small pets such as lizards, hamsters, lizards, etc. This business makes $1481/mo from a combination of affiliate commissions and display ads.

With a potential recession looming over the economy, I love the pet niche more and more! Many people will look for ways to cut unnecessary costs. But pet owners often treat their pets better than themselves and will pay whatever it takes to keep their little pet happy & healthy!

By simply glancing at the Ahrefs overview, this business seems to be a rocket ship of growth. Let’s dive into this deal and find out more!

​Things we don't like:

• Current traffic levels are well below AdThrive requirements. A buyer would need to guarantee/verify AdThrive transfer is possible for the current valuation to remain accurate.
• Most of the top content was written in 2021 and needs to be updated. Considering the amount of articles on the site this could be a sizeable amount of work.
• The previous owner has sold sponsored/guest posts. These are often lower-quality posts & can dilute the backlink equity on a site.

Ok Y'all! things we do like:

• Consistent content production over the last 3-4 years. Over 780 posts have been published.
• Several high-quality & authoritative backlinks (wikihow, insider.com, Pethelpful, Petpedia, etc.)
• Traffic is almost 100% from tier I countries & diversified amongst the top pages. No single page gets more than 3% of total site traffic!
• Solid topical authority in small pet niche. The previous owner has written hundreds of articles covering all aspects of these animals.
• The website currently has an email list of more than 1200 subscribers.

A new owner could:

• Create more affiliate content

The current site is primarily informational content answering various queries about different small animals. Create more affiliate content (Best-of, reviews, product comparisons) for higher ticket products. Petco, Chewy, and Pet Care Supplies have great affiliate programs offering ~5% commissions (depending on the product).

Potential Revenue Increase = Drive 1000 more viewers per month to new affiliate content x 3% conversion percentage * $8 commission = $240/mo

• Test removing ads on affiliate/money pages

Ads can be distracting from the central purpose of a money page. Test to see if removing ads increases affiliate revenue.

• Remove featured images on informational posts

The above-the-fold space on a web page is extremely valuable. Removing the featured image will pull your content & display ads closer to the top of the article. This makes users more likely to view/click ads & boost earnings. Considering the large amount of traffic this site gets to informational pages this could be an easy win to implement on day 1

Potential Revenue Increase = Estimated 5% increase on current ad earnings of $1125 = $56/mo

• Update old content

Content freshness is a major ranking factor in Google’s algorithm. A new site owner should prioritize updating/optimizing the top 50 blog posts to get a boost in rankings!

• Add affiliate links to top informational content

A new owner could see a quick revenue increase by adding call-to-action boxes with affiliate products within the top 5 informational posts. Relevant products often convert very well on informational posts!

Potential Revenue Increase = Top 5 info articles get 3,323 view/mo * 1% conversion rate * $8 commission = $265/mo

Final Thoughts:

Overall, this website has had solid growth over the last 4 years. The high-quality content & backlink profile make it an interesting investment opportunity. Plus, I love the pet niche for a few reasons:

• People spend money on their pets (even in recessions!)
• Lots of affiliate programs
• Decent Ad RPMs in the pet niche

A new or experienced site owner could implement several or all of the easy wins we’ve laid out to see a sizable return in just 12 months!

The below ROI calculation assumes a sale multiple of 36x. This calculation also conservatively assumes the business collects only 6 months of revenue & all other earning are reinvested in growth.

**12 Month Potential return = Revenue + sale profit = $12k + ($73k - $55k) = $30k**
