Site Summary:

This deal consists of 2 independent websites in the Culinary niche that are monetized via display ads (93%) & Amazon affiliate (7%).

Their content consists primarily of informational posts about various cooking recipes & common questions related to cooking. This business was originally created back in 2019 and has grown to produce a significant monthly revenue.

Let’s dive into the details & see what this deal is all about!

​Things we don't like:

• 1 of 2 domains is currently declining in traffic since Nov 2022
• Both sites are currently below Mediavine traffic threshold standards. A new owner would experience a decrease in rev if not approved by Mediavine.
• Content focuses on low ticket items (Oats, Pyrex dishes, etc.)
• Revenue has declined since 2021

Ok Y'all! things we do like:

• Well diversified traffic. No single page on either website is getting more than 8% of total traffic. This means the business is not 100% relying on just a single page!
• Decent EEAT signals. Author bios with relevant history as a chef displayed on all blog posts.
• Email capture boxes are well designed and embedded on blog posts.
• Both sites generate >90% of total traffic from organic search. Leaves opportunity to drive social traffic.
• Sites have several high quality backlinks (i.e. Wikipedia, TheDailyMeal, TastingTable, etc.)

A new owner could:

• Improve CRO On Current Affiliate Links

Placing a few contextual links throughout articles is not going to drive significant revenue. Adding large red “Buy Now” buttons and affiliate tables comparing products could improve affiliate revenue by ~20%

• Focus on Higher Ticket Affiliate Offers

A new owner could create new content hubs around expensive cooking/baking equipment (i.e. Mixers). Adding new affiliate content focused on high ticket offers could boost monthly rev

• Focus on Pinterest & Youtube

The cooking niche is perfect for Pinterest! People love looking up creative/unique recipes. A new owner could invest in growing a large Pinterest following to boost traffic & rev. Creating Youtube videos reviewing cooking/baking equipment could also boost traffic & improve revenue

• Email List

A new owner could keep growing the ~2k person email list. Use this list to promote affiliate products, digital products, and share blog posts. Using a free recipe ebook as a lead magnet could significantly improve email signups. Optimizing email campaigns could earn an additional ~$100/mo or more. This list could also grow much faster with the amount of traffic the site gets a lead magnet.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, these websites in the culinary niche make for an interesting investment opportunity for a new or experienced operator. In my experience, cooking is an excellent niche for a content/affiliate website for several reasons.

• Cooking has a broad appeal…everybody eats!
• Its an evergreen topic, meaning that it is always in demand and does not go out of style
• There are many affiliate marketing opportunities (cooking equipment, cooking classes, etc.)
• Social media can be a powerful tool for driving traffic to a cooking affiliate website (especially Pinterest + YouTube)
• Could build a newsletter or community which will be important as search engines may change with Ai in the future
• If you are buying or building content sites in 2023 YOU MUST be thinking about how you can build retention models like newsletters and communities and find traffic sources other than search engines

The website is currently listed for a 28x monthly multiple of the current revenue of $4,344. The low valuation likely accounts for the fact a new owner would not be approved onto Mediavine (would have to use Ezoic).

Might even be worth offering a slightly lower multiple (26x) based on the declining revenue and traffic.

✔ Site is currently monetized via Amazon with the opportunity to expand into other monetization methods.
