Why might Oklahoma host the nation's first publicly-funded religious school?

  1. Summary
Oklahoma's Statewide Virtual Charter School Board voted 3-2 to approve the establishment of St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, an online Catholic charter school. The school would be the first US religious school funded by taxpayers. A member of the school's board said it was "too early to even say" if gay or transgender students could be admitted.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, petitioning for St. Isidore's creation, says it struggles to compete with the state's six other virtual charters because they are free. "Taxpayer dollars are paying for all those other ones but our parents are paying taxes, too," said the organization.

Advocates for the school say recent Supreme Court rulings mean that private entities cannot be barred from receiving public funds on religious grounds. While Oklahoma law deems charter schools to be public, St. Isidore's supporters say charter schools should be considered private. Oklahoma's attorney general said the school creates a "slippery slope" to state-funded religion. It is expected to face legal challenges immediately.

No - I think if VR or AR headsets solved a problem people have with current technology or had some “killer feature” the price wouldn’t matter as much, especially for professionals. The original iPhone did so many things you couldn’t even dream of doing with previous mobile phones, so not only did it replace old tech but it also had multiple “killer features” such as touchscreen, GPS, a real camera, real internet, etc. This new headset could have more application and purpose, but I’m just not seeing it yet.

Unsure - Although we have come a long way in the world of "virtual reality" in my humble opinion it is still nothing more than an awkward novelty at this point. [...] I think eventually VR w...
