Write of Passage Weekly - Writing Sprints: Stop Writing Alone

Today is the last day to enroll in Writing Sprints! Join us this Friday, June 23, to write, edit, and publish in one day. 

You are bursting with brilliant ideas. But do you struggle to get them onto the page? 

Ideas buzz and bounce around in your brain, but when it’s time to write, your inner critic keeps you silent. It convinces you that you’re not quite ready. Your Google Docs is littered with half-written drafts, and you find reason after reason not to share your ideas. “They're not good enough. What will people think?”

Your creativity feels perpetually blocked. It's like the Hoover Dam is holding back a flood of ideas. 

You second-guess yourself. You freeze. You procrastinate. The hours turn to days, to weeks, to months. So, you stay scrolling — remaining a consumer rather than becoming a creator.

This cycle is exhausting and unfulfilling. You know you have something to say. And I’m here to tell you: The world needs to hear it. 

So, how do you break the cycle? Start sprinting.

In our last Writing Sprint, a whole group of students hit “Publish” — some of them for the first time. Here’s what they said about the experience:

You don’t have to keep your ideas locked away in your head, and you don’t have to write alone. A Writing Sprint is like a workout class for your mind. You’ll break a sweat and meet like-minded people. It has the energy of SoulCycle, the variety of CrossFit, and the camaraderie of a Spartan Race.

As your guide and instructor, I’ll walk you through the process of drafting, editing, and publishing a piece of writing — all in one day.

What to Expect

Step 1: Write Your Draft

You’ll workshop your idea and write your first draft in a live, two-hour writing blitz. Say adios to your inner critic — working against the clock quiets your mind and gets you moving.  

Step 2: Get Feedback

During the day, you’ll revise your draft. But you won’t be alone. Jump into live, 1-on-1 feedback calls with our trained editors as needed.

Step 3: Hit “Publish”

It’s time to ship. You’ll rejoin the group for your push to the finish, making the final edits to your piece. And no last-minute panic — you’ll publish with everyone in real-time, to help get you over the finish line.
