Source: Pew Research Center

  1. Summary
Saturday marked the anniversary of Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health, the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade. Prominent nonprofits, like Planned Parenthood, used the anniversary to endorse President Biden's reelection bid. Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, on Friday signed an executive order centralizing abortion-related prosecutions at the state level, limiting local prosecutors from pursuing such investigations.

President Biden issued a statement criticizing states for "imposing extreme and dangerous abortion bans," and warned of attempts by congressional Republicans to ban abortion nationwide. Thousands of pro-life activists gathered in Washington, DC over the weekend to celebrate the decision, with some speakers calling for a national ban, while thousands of pro-choice activists also gathered.

There is no apparent consensus among Republican lawmakers for a nationwide ban, and any national ban would be unlikely to pass the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Is the censure of Rep. Adam Schiff warranted?

528 votes, 54 comments

Context: Democratic representative censured for comments about alleged Trump-Russia collusion.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - Nothing that Schiff did was any different than all the Benghazi hearings--except that they were done just to ruin Clinton's chances and there was nothing really there (there is video of them actually saying as much). With Trump though, there was a whole boatload of "there". This was evidenced by the two impeachments that he lost. All Schiff did was help present two excellent cases for why Trump should have been impeached, which is why he was.

Unsure - As an independent who leans progressive, I do find Schiff's censure satisfying. Democrats rightly criticize Trump and Republicans for undermining faith in...
