Tesla’s Dojo Supercomputer begins operations
After much anticipation, Tesla has officially launched its powerful Dojo supercomputer, representing a major milestone for the company's technological capabilities. Tesla Dojo is a custom-built supercomputer optimized for neural network training and designed to process vast amounts of visual data for autonomous driving. The Dojo supercomputer will allow Tesla to accelerate the development of Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) technologies. It could also allow the development and deployment of more sophisticated AI algorithms, increasing the safety and reliability of Tesla's autonomous driving technology.

Tesla Model Y Hardware 4 teardown
Tesla hacker @greentheonly provided unprecedented inside access to the new Model Y's Hardware 4 computer, detailing its physical structure, components, and retrofitting viability. Key findings include cost-cutting measures like cheaper RAM, missing premium features reserved for S/X models, subtle manufacturing changes between versions, and unpopulated connectors hinting at potential future camera additions. While retrofitting older models with HW4 seems unfeasible due to required modifications, Green says a different retrofit-specific version could possibly be engineered if Tesla wanted to pursue it.

Tesla Megapacks power new battery storage project in Alaska

Alaskan utilities Chugach Electric and Matanuska Electric have installed 24 Tesla Megapacks in a $63M battery project to reduce gas reliance and emissions. Coming online in 2024, the system follows a 37 Megapack installation already saving its utility millions and cutting gas use 10%. The Megapack projects showcase the cost and efficiency benefits of battery storage for Alaskan power companies and consumers.

Tesla Electric customers report making as much as $150 a day

Tesla Electric customers in Texas are cashing in, with some Powerwall owners reporting earning up to $150 a day selling electricity back to the grid during recent heatwaves. This is thanks to Tesla's virtual power plant program, which now boasts over 6MW of capacity in the state. Through the Tesla Electric interface, homeowners can monitor their earnings in real-time, making it look like they're running their own mini electric utility with their solar panels and Powerwalls.

🤓 What the Acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • EV: Electric Vehicle
  • FSD: Full Self-Driving
  • HW4: Hardware 4
