Why is House Speaker McCarthy floating a presidential impeachment inquiry?

Source: Associated Press

  1. Summary
During a Fox News interview on Monday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said that House Republicans' investigation into the Biden family's overseas business is "rising to the level of impeachment inquiry." An impeachment inquiry grants lawmakers the power to obtain information, so as to evaluate starting actual impeachment proceedings.

While calls to impeach President Biden had been prevalent among the House GOP's most conservative members, the idea is gaining traction among other House Republicans. McCarthy also previously expressed hesitation about impeachment proceedings.

"When Biden was running for office, he told the public he has never talked about business. He said his family has never received a dollar from China – which we prove is not true," McCarthy said Monday. The shift also comes after lawmakers uncovered an FBI memo saying an informant learned the CEO of Ukrainian firm Burisma sought to bribe Joe and Hunter Biden. The memo's allegations remain unverified.

No - Ever hear the saying don't put all your eggs in one basket? It isn't bad advice and it applies here. That one app is compromised then everything associated with it is compromised. Further, and I think people need to think about this more, if it is free to users then you are the commodity being sold. Do you really want the company handling financial stuff also being the company selling you things? These companies don't exist to benefit you, they exist to benefit themselves. I also don't see the purpose in using something that may do a passable or half-a$ed job at 100 things but doesn't do a great job at anything.

Unsure - Sometimes the convenience of an integrated offering can create significant advantages (eg. cable, internet & phone package through a single provider e...

Yes - It depends on some things, like how I feel about the company producing the app and how good the features are. But I lean towards "yes." I've resi...
