Source: The Conversation

  1. Summary
Former President Donald Trump received an unprecedented fourth indictment late Monday, the result of a two-year investigation by Fulton County, Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis. Willis launched the investigation after Trump's January 2021 phone call with Georgia's secretary of state, in which Trump said "I just want to find 11,780 votes" after losing the state.

The grand jury returned 10 indictments against 19 people. Trump is charged with racketeering, which could result in a five to 20-year prison sentence. Prosecutors will have to prove the existence of a racketeering "enterprise" and a pattern of racketeering based on two qualifying crimes.

Possible charges against Trump were published on the court's website Monday and then removed, before the Grand Jury returned its verdict, which Trump's campaign said was evidence that "the District Attorney has already decided how this case will end." The campaign also called the indictment election interference, saying "They could have brought this two and half years ago."

Overall, is the federal prosecution of Hunter Biden being conducted fairly?

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - The IRS whistleblowers are credible. The fact the DOJ allowed the biggest felonies to expire, when they could have easily finalized or extended the statute of limitations is a clear example of favoritism. The IRS agents were not incompetent, they were impeded by the DOJ from doing their job. The fact Weiss, the main prosecutor who allowed this to happen and pushed for a plea deal (when he said he had full authority) that was going to provide full immunity for other Biden issues, and a lenient plea that turned felonies into misdemeanors is another clear example.
