There are a lot of success factors for marketing websites.
Many of them are must-have requirements for digital marketing success.

There are at least 10 of them that made it on our checklist of web design requirements. It is useful in several ways:

  • If you’re planning a redesign or writing an RFP, make sure these are in the plan.
  • If you recently launched a website, this may help you evaluate its performance.
  • If you’re just trying to understand your lead gen platform better, these are the various perspectives.

The requirements range broadly: SEO, conversions optimization, accessibility, page speed, easy updates, systems integration. It’s a big, comprehensive list.

There is tension between some of the items on this list. Others work together beautifully. The job of the UX designer, copywriter and marketer is to balance these in a way that drives real business outcomes, while being a good citizen of the internet. Often, it’s about walking that fine line.

After more than 1000 web projects over 24 years, we’re happy to share this perspective. We hope this is helpful.
