A round-up of the 5 most interesting sites added to Raptive and Mediavine over the last 30 days

Mediavine and Raptive had a relatively quiet 30 days - only adding about 95 new sites total (vs 120 last month, as tracked by Display Ad Daily).

In last week's newsletter, Keith talked about the power of creating tools/resources to help attract organic, & even direct traffic to your site.

That's exactly what we did with Display Ad Daily - it attracts thousands of users to our site, Niche Twins, every single month and has added over 500 subscribers to this very email list!

Well, Keith's email was timely because this month's round-up of the 5 most interesting sites added to Raptive and Mediavine are ALL tools/resources.

1. Holiday Calendar

This is a relatively new site, based on a really simple idea - just about every day of the year has a handful (or more) of dedicated "holidays" named after it.

For example, today, May 17th, has 20 different holidays named after it!

Today is National bike to work day, National Idaho day, National endangered species day, National pizza party day...and the list goes on.

Who knew?

2. Phrases Directory

This is a brand-new, DR 0 site that is very clearly going after any and all long tail keywords that have to do with the english language.

For example, "science words that start with j", "adjectives that start with r", "descriptive words that start with s".

Basically going all in on long tails, while everyone else runs the other way. So far, it's working!

3. Random Generators

Another simple concept - this entire site is dedicated to random generators.

Looking for a baby boy name? Or a random country? Or a random number?

You'd be shocked how many people are searching for these types of generators every single month, and this site is capitalizing on it.

4. Unscramble Words

• Organic traffic: ~300,000 visitors
• Total pages: 58,000 pages

There are loads of board games (Scrabble) and daily word games on the phone that involve figuring out a word with letters in the wrong order, or missing altogether.

Unscramble Words plays off the tendency of players of those games to...cheat 😅.

So if you're in the middle of a game of online Scrabble for example, you can pop over to Unscramble Words, enter the letters you have, and instantly get a bunch of different words you can play.

But don't worry, Unscramble Words says "don't be concerned about cheating - they are just there to help you find words - you still have to play them in the right spots!". 😂

I actually love the idea and the site is on a rocket ship!

5. Curse Forge

Last, but not least, is a 8 year old site "Curse Forge".

This is basically a market place for free add-ons and mods to popular games like Minecraft, The Sims, Palworld and more.

Players of these games can build their own game modifications, like a new map, and upload it to Curse Forge for the world to use.

This site has been on a pretty steady rise over the last decade, getting nearly 6,000,000 pageviews last month!

Sites like these that have some utility beyond just content/information are really interesting.

And from what I can tell, many of them have done very well (survived or better) through these recent Google updates.

That's why I just took a 45% stake in a new project I'm going to be working on over the coming year.

It's a resource that has a handful of possibilities to build free and paid tools as well.
