Based on the leaked metrics, I plan to test if certain strategies still work and see how I can profit from them. One of the main takeaways that I saw was the importance of click-through rates (CTR) and dwell time for ranking. I will be testing CTR using various software for both organic and local searches. Tune in.

What’s Going Down @ Google 📊

→ Kai Blum from Mailchimp wrote up a solid article on how to make the best of AI Overviews, which continue to shove regular listings deeper down in the SERPs.

Here are five pieces of advice from the piece:

1. Don't throw out SEO best practices like on-page optimization and link- building

2. If you're building for success for the SGE era, concise definitions, lists, images, and videos are all preferred content types

3. Topical authority will be more important than ever

4. Integrate email marketing and SMS marketing

5. Make your organic traffic work harder for you

→ Speaking of the Overviews, Google has confirmed they’re scaling back (after getting owned at a colossal level).

→ Koray Gubur’s new YouTube video- Google Update Proof Websites with Topical Authority: 400% Click Increase in 6 Months (SaaS SEO)- is a “new bluehat SEO Case study with unique suggestions.”

→ There have been thousands- maybe millions- of depressing Reddit comment sections over the years, but this r/SEO post by Railgun_Misaka led to many SEOs swapping stories that show how brutally Google has been killing small blogs and sites is worth a scan.

→ While the newest Google Search Ads are being criticized for resembling the AI Assistant App a little too much- as the new search ads will “contain paid recommendations designed to behave exactly like AI-generated answers”- there’s still a lot worth knowing about how they play a part in Google’s new interactive shopping experience visions. This article gives you a detailed look.

Basically, by snapping a photo of something in the world and using Google Lens, the user will be taken to shopping options immediately. While it's an interesting direction, it does seem to "blur the line between AI assisted search and advertising."

→ Perplexity.AI’s new Pagues feature will take user prompts and generate a customizable webpage. AKA Perplexity does all the research and writing for you based on just a prompt. This piece on the Verge walks you through the steps and explains what to expect from the feature.

→ It may seem like Elon has fallen behind other AI giants in the race (he has), but he did just raise a tidy $6B for xAI, so we’ll see what comes next.

→ Mistral just dropped “Codestral,” which is a generative AI model geared specifically toward coding that’s been trained on 80+ programming languages (Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, etc.).

→ In the EU, Meta has let users know that their data is being used for AI model training, and it seems like users can opt out— “IF” their “objection is honoured.”

→ To encourage more native posting on LinkedIn, link previews for organic posts have been shrunk.

→ This almost seems like a headline from nearly a decade ago, but this 8 Ways To Promote Your Facebook Page Successfully piece was a good reminder that, considering the more than 3B monthly active users, a legit Facebook presence is still part of a sound social media marketing strategy for many of us. So not only are tips like Use High-Quality Visual Content, Enable The “Call To Action” Button, Use Facebook Stories And Facebook Live useful, but the other 5 included in the piece are worth keeping in mind, too.
