Kenny Chesney isn't the best singer. He isn't the best guitarist. But he is, without a doubt, one of the best storytellers of this generation. He is able to get listeners emotionally invested in the people in his songs, and that is why he has consistently sold out stadiums for decades. "Here and Now" is another collection of stories in the Chesney discography, spanning contentment, love, and isolation. Stylistically, he uses more lead electric guitar than in the past, which is a nice surprise. In the end, Chesney is living "here and now", in the moment, and imploring No Shoes Nation to do the same.

Treading the line of minimalistic indie pop, Peter Bjorn and John’s, “Endless Dream” continues on their previous work. Their formula has not changed much, which can be interpreted many ways. The highlight for me is “Drama King”. The irony of a song where the singer proclaims himself as a “drama king” that is so minimalistic is a beautiful juxtaposition. Allowing for the guitar to shine through was a great decision, and it shows.

It Was Divine

Alina Baraz has definitely found her sound. The mellow, dreamy vibes exude from her album, “It Was Divine”, and give the listeners a glimpse into a recent tough breakup that she endured. Through it all, she learned to trust and love herself, which is a great lesson for us all. She declares, “Who got me like I do?”, proclaiming her self love, and knowing it’s all she can rely on.

The Saga of Wiz Khalifa

Not much seems to have changed with Wiz Khalifa, as apparent with the track “Still Wiz”. It samples Dr. Dre’s 2001 hit “Still D.R.E.”, and adds Wiz’s own style on top of it. Here, he’s telling anyone who will listen that he is here to stay, and he is not changing. Much of this album is typical Wiz: smoking and Taylor Gang. But the highlight of the album is “High Today”, which features Logic. On this track, the two of them flow extremely well together, it sounds natural and organic. The beat is soft and smooth, which is a nice change.

After a debut album that flopped, The Wallflowers (headed by Jakob Dylan - son of Bob Dylan) released "Bringing Down the Horse" as their sophomore record. This album absolutely went "90's viral". The Wallflowers were all over the radio, and this album went quadruple platinum. Many of the songs here are familiar hits, gracing the radio from time to time. Make sure to hear some of the lesser known tracks like "Angel On My Bike" or "Josephine", as they highlight what this group does best.
