After listening to “Petals For Armor”, there is no doubt flowers are an important part of the life of Hayley Williams (front woman for Paramore). In an interview with Pitchfork, she describes a vision where she is surrounded by earth, vines, and flowers. This beautiful imagery helped her recover from personal traumas, and subsequently boosted the creative process of writing her first solo album. Straying from the punk influence of Paramore’s style, she infuses funky bass lines with 80’s tones to highlight her voice. Luckily, through this album, we can, as Haley tells us, “watch me while I bloom”.

Created entirely while quarantined in his home in Italy, Ludovico Einaudi gives the world a look into how quarantine can stir the creative process. He is arguably the most commercially successful classical artist of the 21st century, so releasing any work at this time is a gift to the world. Throughout "12 Songs From Home", he so eloquently captures complex emotions. Fittingly, hope seems to reverberate through many of the tracks. It's easy to visualize a heroine returning to save the day, backed by Ludovico Einaudi's music, in a blockbuster cinematic production.

Embodying what is known as “vocal-driven trap”, Don Toliver creates a unique sound on his album, “Heaven or Hell”. Most of the subject matter is consistent with the trap genre, but he is able to make it sound less intimidating with his smooth vocal work. The beats are psychedelic and minimal, which allow Toliver to shine in the forefront. In the end, he pronounces that everyone has a choice in this life, between “heaven or hell”, and it is up to us to decide what we want.

LANCO (short for Lancaster & Company) deliver a formidable debut album. Led by frontman Brandon Lancaster, they hit many styles on this record. At times, they sound like the typical country you hear on the radio, then they break into a more rock infused track and it leaves you wondering. As they grow and mature, they will iron out their identity, but it will be interesting to watch. The most popular song, “Greatest Love Story”, will sounds familiar, but tracks like “We Do” show their true potential. Focusing on ideas like “simple things keep us going” is what country music was built on, so it’s nice to hear that from a modern country artist.

On Throwback Thursday, we honor Little Richard after his passing this last weekend. Nicknamed "The Architect of Rock and Roll", "The Innovator", and "The Originator", Little Richard was truly a trend setter for the industry. Many modern artists, and especially those coming to popularity in the 70's and 80's, attribute Little Richard as a colossal influence in their careers. He pioneered showmanship as a part of the rock and roll culture, and his stage persona transcended generations. Rest in peace to a legend, Little Richard.
